Academic Career & Executive Search is pleased to assist the UCLA School of Nursing in their search for the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). The School of Nursing is seeking a visionary nurse scientist to assume a key leadership role in implementing the school and campus commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion for all members of their community.

 

This is a full-time position with 50 percent effort as Associate Dean of DEI and the remaining 50 percent effort at the Associate or Full Professor rank expected to engage in teaching, research, and university and public service.

 

The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of the School of Nursing and is responsible for the strategic direction of the school’s DEI activities and promoting a diverse, equitable and respectful environment for faculty, staff and students.

 

As a member of the School of Nursing leadership team, the Associate Dean for DEI will serve as a liaison for the school with the UCLA Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and represent the School’s DEI interests with the other UCLA Health Sciences schools, including the David Geffen School of Medicine, the UCLA School of Dentistry, and the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. In addition, the Associate Dean for DEI will collaborate with colleagues from other schools and departments across the UCLA campus and will represent the School of Nursing at community and professional meetings in the Los Angeles area, as well as nationally and internationally.

 

In addition, the Associate Dean will provide leadership in:

  1. Planning, implementing and evaluating goals related to diversity and inclusion within the school
  2. Facilitating new initiatives and activities that promote DEI
  3. Monitoring and measuring the DEI outcomes in the strategic plan. Consistent with the goals of the school, the Associate Dean will collaborate with the diversity leadership team within the school, including the Director and Assistant Director of DEI, and serve as a resource for the Council on DEI as well as meet with the University, across campus DEI leadership and others.

 

Requirements

  • Earned doctoral degree in nursing
  • Academic credentials and leadership skills to qualify for associate or full professor rank in the Ladder Rank Professorial series
  • A meritorious program of funded research consistent with the awarding of tenure. An Endowed Chair appointment may be considered for those applicants meeting qualifications for this honorary position.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a clear commitment and experience toward supporting and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion of students, faculty and staff from differing backgrounds.
  • History of successful leadership in promoting diversity and engaging in activities that support equity and respect in the work environment.
  • Creative nurse scientists with administrative experience and a current, focused research program that advances nursing science and is congruent with the mission of the School
  • Distinguished personal record of funded research.
