Academic Career & Executive Search is pleased to assist the Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) System in their search for President of the ENMU – Roswell campus. The college seeks a motivated and experienced senior administrator to provide exceptional leadership as the next President.
 

As the branch/community college-level chief academic officer, the President needs to be a charismatic leader ready to grow and expand the Roswell campus. The ideal candidate is a relationship builder within the campus, system and greater community with strong financial acumen and enrollment, recruitment and retention success.

 

This position reports to the Chancellor of the Eastern New Mexico University System. ENMU – Roswell has a locally elected five-member community board with statutory responsibility for local oversight of the campus. The president has broad responsibilities for the operation of the Roswell campus, in consultation and coordination with the main campus.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • An understanding of and commitment to a comprehensive community and technical college
  • Demonstrated ability to lead within a larger system
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to manage change
  • Experience in developing coalitions and state partnerships
  • Experience in planning and managing multiple budgets
  • Commitment to student success and strong supporter of the educational mission, academic-transfer, and career-technical educational mission of the community college
  • Support partnerships within the business community that foster economic development
  • Commitment to diversity and a demonstrated ability to lead an institution that values and respects the differences of the community, university employees and students
  • Must understand the curricula and services offered at a comprehensive community college ensuring the institution remains accredited through HLC and other accrediting agencies
  • Evidence of leadership in curriculum development and initiating new programs
  • Ability to lead individuals with divergent viewpoints together towards a common goal
  • Champion a customer-driven philosophy of continuously improving services and programs through consensus building and community involvement
  • Maintain visibility working with senior level boards, state agencies, legislators, and other stakeholders
  • Evidence of leadership in supporting economic development and establishing a positive institutional presence at the state level
  • Implement long-range planning and growth in a community college environment
  • Strong commitment to the personal and professional growth and safety of students, faculty, staff, and administration with the pursuit of excellence in all areas

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
 

Essential:

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution
  • Minimum five years successful, senior-level administrative experience
  • Experience with higher education accreditation

Preferred:

  • Administrative experience in a comprehensive community college
  • HLC accreditation familiarity
  • Five years experience as a full-time faculty member

ENMU's main campus, consisting of 344 acres is in Portales, 90 miles northeast of Roswell, 120 miles southwest of Amarillo, Texas, and 110 miles northwest of Lubbock, Texas. ENMU owns KENW (TV) and KENW-FM, a public television and radio station housed and operated on the main campus. There are two degree-granting branches in Ruidoso and Roswell.

The branch was established in the fall of 1958. In the spring of 1967, the institution moved to 12 buildings on 241 acres of the former Walker Air Force Base. Roswell is one of New Mexico's larger cities, located in the southeast section of the state.
