Academic Career & Executive Search is pleased to assist Eastern Connecticut State University in their search for a Vice President of Student Affairs.

 

This position offers a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated, student centric, team leader to serve in this highly visible role. Reporting to the President, this position is a member of a collaborative executive cabinet committed to student success.

 

The position is a critical role in the university carrying full responsibility for the vision, leadership and administration of student affairs and all matters relating to the general, social, cultural, health, welfare, and retention of students. Under the direction of the President, the Vice President for Student Affairs provides executive-level leadership, strategic and operational planning and administrative direction to all functions including: Housing & Residential Life, Student Center Operations and Student Activities, Center for Internships & Career Development, Student Counseling & Psychological Services, Health Services, Wellness Education and Promotion, Office of Accessibility Services, Center for Community Engagement, Orientation Programs, Athletics, Center for Community Engagement, Student Conduct, VETS Center, Unity Wing, (Pride Center, Women’s Center, Intercultural Center), advisement to Student Senate and other student organizations, and coordination of selection, development, supervision, and evaluation of staff.

 

The successful candidate brings a record of accomplishment in residential life, recruitment and retention. The candidate brings high ethical values and dedication to both the university and community as a whole.

 

The Vice President:

  1. Monitors the general social, cultural, and health programs for students 
  2. Keeps the educational philosophy and goals of the University before the Student Affairs staff through information sharing, advocacy and mentoring, and interpretation of policy. 
  3. Assumes responsibility for affirmative action efforts and adherence to procedures in the recruitment, hiring, and promotion of staff
  4. Assumes responsibility for college-wide morale, student welfare and community relations.
  5. Participates in the formulation of collective bargaining and labor relations policies, particularly as they impact students.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in an appropriate field
  • Record of progressively responsible experience in student affairs and housing
  • Proven success and leadership in Residential Housing
  • Strong crisis management skills
  • Proven success in developing and implementing programs enhancing student success
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Experience working and supporting a multicultural and diverse student population
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams to reach established goals; and experience with data reporting and analysis for enrollment management decision-making

 

 

Preferred Requirements

  • Earned doctorate
  • Degrees in the areas of student development, student personnel services, counseling, higher education administration and educational leadership
  • Working knowledge of unionized workplace
  • Experience or familiarity with NCAA athletics and Title IX
  • Experience working in state and/or system institutions

 

Rank and salary are dependent on qualifications. Excellent fringe benefits package available.
