William Paterson University - Wayne, New Jersey (WP) desires a dynamic, collegial, and experienced servant leader for the position of Dean for the Cotsakos College of Business.

This position is ideal for a cutting edge, student-centric, strategic leader with a proven history of successful growth initiatives, strong partnership and collaboration skills, and results-focused leadership. The successful candidate will coordinate the development and delivery of innovative, high-quality academic programs that meet the demands of today’s workforce and students.

The successful candidate brings a proven track record of working successfully across disciplines, community engagement, and excellent economic development skills. The location of William Paterson University provides excellent access to motivated community members and businesses.

This position offers exciting opportunities to provide strategic, and visionary leadership to faculty and staff in matters relating to curriculum and program development; accreditation, assessment and evaluation; recruitment and retention of faculty, staff and students; community engagement; research, scholarship, grant-seeking, and fundraising.

As the Chief Academic Officer for the College of Business, the Dean reports directly to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and provides strong leadership and direction to a robust college of more than 40 full-time faculty members.

This is a full-time 12-month position with a starting date of July 2020.

Responsibilities:
  • Promote the reputation of the College and its programs by advancing and supporting relevant activities
  • Communicate College goals to internal and external constituencies
  • Lead program development and continuous improvement initiatives and activities
  • Collaborate with faculty and professional staff to secure external funding in support of programmatic initiatives, faculty development, and student scholarships
  • Drive the effort to enhance business education in the region
  • Seek new opportunities to support and develop the College’s collaboration with regional businesses, non-profit organizations, municipalities and related professions

Required qualifications:
  • Earned terminal degree in a field represented at the College or in a related discipline
  • Five or more years of collegiate level teaching experience
  • Strong record of scholarship and service commensurate with an academic appointment in the college
  • Five or more years of successful administrative leadership experience within or relevant to higher education
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence
  • Ability to develop and articulate a clear vision
  • Able to collaborate with faculty to build a case for change, drive need, and develop and execute plans for change
  • Clear understanding of the importance of and process for maintaining AACSB accreditation
  • Consideration will be given to individuals with significant corporate credentials who demonstrate a deep understanding of business education and academic values
  • Demonstrated successful fundraising experience
  • Demonstrated leadership style that fosters team-building and inclusive relationships among individuals with competing needs and wants
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred requirements:
  • Experience with online program development and delivery
  • Strong commitment to using technology in teaching and learning
  • Evidence of having worked successfully in a diverse environment
