The Chair of EECS plays a critical role in the College and provides strategic and transformational leadership in the planning, development and implementation of high-quality programs. The Chair encourages, mentors and leads faculty in pursuing initiatives that strengthen the scholarly profile of the Department. This position joins an energetic team of new Chairs during an exciting time of transformation within the College of Engineering. Under the direction of Dean Toole, appointed in 2017, the College is poised for growth and development.

The EECS Chair reports to the Dean of the College of Engineering and is the chief academic and administrative officer of the department, responsible for the successful planning, organization, policy development, implementation, and financial management of all aspects of the department. Minimum Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in computer engineering (CE), computer science (CS), computer science and engineering (CSE), electrical and computer engineering (ECE), electrical engineering (EE), or in a related discipline
• Possess academic credentials to qualify for appointment as a tenured full professor at the University of Toledo College of Engineering
• Minimum of five or more years of experience as a faculty member in institutions of higher education
• Demonstrated educational leadership in CE, CS, CSE, ECE, EE or a related field
• Demonstrated track record of success in teaching and research, including success in obtaining external funding for their research

The College of Engineering (https://www.utoledo.edu/engineering), founded in 1931, currently has an enrollment of over 3,800 undergraduate and graduate students in six departments. The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (https://www.utoledo.edu/engineering/electrical-engineering-computer-science/) offers two ABET-accredited baccalaureate degree programs enrolling over 720 undergraduate students, including a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering that is accredited by both the CAC and EAC of ABET, and is offered at both the University of Toledo main campus and at the Lorain County Community College University Partnership Program campus. The Department also has 90 graduate students enrolled in two master’s and two Ph.D. degree programs.
